"... desired unity with all Christians."
About Churches of Christ

The Churches of Christ as we know them today are a closely affiliated
group of autonomous churches borne out of a common movement.  This
movement began around the turn of the 19th century in several eastern US
states. Men of various denominations (Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist,
etc.) were tired of their divisive labels and desired unity with all Christians.
Many church leaders desired to give up their denominational titles and
join hands with one another in the name of Christian love and unity.  A
movement began with then-popular church leaders such as Alexander
Campbell and Barton Stone forsaking their previous titles in deference to
the simple name "Christian." Our movement, which began in unity, sadly
became divided around the turn of the 20th century.  Today, we exist in
three groups: the Christian Churches, the Disciples of Christ, and the
Churches of Christ.  At Northcrest, we can only speak for ourselves.  It is our
frank desire that all of God's people would be one again, and this can only
be achieved through the Spirit of love and selflessness in Jesus Christ.
